A balcony can be an amazing opportunity to experience the outdoors in high rise apartment living, however they can also be overlooked, exposed to the elements, very small, have confusing weight restrictions and present difficulties with access, so creating a space that you can enjoy is often a challenging task.

In 2025 I created an award winning balcony show garden with my design team Ssh scapes for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and through the design and build process the challenges of these small and restricted spaces became very apparent to all of us.
