About
Sally Giles is an award winning garden designer who divides her time between Solihull, London and her camper van.
Having previously worked in the pensions industry I gave up work to raise my family in the early 2010s. I always had a love of design and in between ‘mom’ duties I filled my spare time with gardening and home renovation projects, culminating in the purchase and full scale renovation of a large Edwardian house and garden in 2020, which is now our family’s home.
In 2023 I spent a year re training as a garden designer with KLC, a prestigious design school in London, gaining my Garden Design Diploma and winning a ‘best residential garden design’ award. After completing the course I set up my own business as a designer in Solihull and founded the design group ssh scapes with two colleagues from the course. We worked together on three show garden projects, culminating in an award winning garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2025.
My passion is to create functional spaces that really work for the people who use them. Using my show garden experience I base my designs around a concept that is meaningful to each client and helps bring cohesiveness and magic to the final project. I have a ‘light touch’ approach with the aim of reducing waste and cost for my clients. I don’t like to include elements that are unnecessary and I want to create designs that will stand the test of time. I love naturalistic planting styles, colour and texture, however I also love the challenge of understanding your style and creating a space that is perfect for you.
